Should I bother The Travel Fairy with a simple hotel, cruise, or tour booking?

Of course! We want to be your go-to for all types of travel. Sure, you could hop online and book a hotel or a cruise sailing the Med, but wouldn’t it be better to let us do it and be treated as a VIP? Through our partnerships, we can often enhance your trip by adding on breakfast, resort credits or upgrades. Thinking about it after hours and you just want to grab that hotel room? Use our hotel booking engine The World's Best Luxury Hotels, Resorts, Spas, Villas, Lodges, and Private Islands | Virtuoso to access Virtuoso properties. If you are not already registered, you will have to make an account on a desktop and select one of us as your advisor to be able to complete a reservation. Once notified, we will follow up with both you and the hotel to ensure you receive the best service, VIP guest status and Virtuoso amenities. If it is a four or five star property that is not affiliated with Virtuoso, please reach out directly, as we’d still love to help and participate in loads of preferred partner programs that can benefit you.

Does The Travel Fairy charge design fees?

Getting your custom vacation planned and executed perfectly is a process. Each advisor sets their own fee schedule, starting at $250 for a custom one-week vacation. The fee covers our time, industry and destination knowledge, and access to our worldwide network of experts and preferred partners with value-added benefits. We will provide up to three revisions, and at the end of the process you will have detailed itinerary documents, support while traveling and a beautiful vacation on the horizon.

Do I need travel insurance?

We also provide access to travel insurance. Nobody wants to think about something going wrong before or during travel that would cause you to cancel or cut short your vacation, but it could happen, and you might have made a significant investment that may not be fully refundable. Travel insurance can help with these situations, as well as medical coverage while traveling outside of the United States where your insurance might not provide primary coverage.

What additional costs should I consider?

Gratuities are another cost that you should think about in advance. Whether it is a butler at your resort or your private tour guide, many countries have a tipping culture similar to the United States. The Travel Fairy will provide guidelines for you specific to your destinations

What if I pay the design fee, but don’t end up booking a trip?

The fee isn’t refundable. That’s why we have an initial consultation – to make sure The Travel Fairy is a good option to plan and book your vacation.

Can you help me with flights?

The Travel Fairy has a full-service air department that can help you find the best itineraries and fares. We have 24/7 support, and in-travel emergency service available. Air ticketing fees start at $75 per person for a domestic trip and $100 per person for an international trip. Emergency support outside of normal business hours will incur an additional cost.

What doesn’t The Travel Fairy do?

That’s a great question. While we like to say we can do everything, there are a few things that we don’t do. While we understand the attraction of apartment or home stays, especially for large families, we cannot work with owner-direct websites like AirBnb or VRBO, as we can’t vouch for the quality and on-site support of the properties. We do have options in this space that that would come with a level of support on the ground and concierge services that would make the same property listed on AirBnb a less expensive option. We also can’t commit to flights only, one-off transfers or touring services of a vacation you’ve planned yourself. Our suppliers typically work on full packages and are reserved for clients booking full vacations with us. We do, however, have some trusted off-the-shelf transfer companies and tour offerings that we can recommend, and tour offerings that we can confidently recommend if you’d like to book on your own like Context Travel Touring and ​Project Expedition Touring. We also know that many of our clients have accumulated points in different reward programs. Unfortunately, we cannot accept points or miles as payment, and you will have to work with the specific program to redeem them.
